It's been a while since our last blog, but we didn't want it to seem like we were bragging.......
We continue to spend most of our weekends on the beach. We actually did some exploring at Tarague beach here on base and found that there are lots of caves and wildlife.

Of course, I found the pretty butterflies that you can actually touch and they won't fly away. Guess who found the hermit crab and wanted to bring it home as a pet...............typical.We also came across an area that you can walk along the rocks and check out the fish.

and then, one day..............our belongings ARRIVED!!!
but oh if you could only have seen what this place looked like after the movers left!! I would have taken a few photos but I couldn't find the camera..........or anything else for that matter!Luckily, we only had to look at that mess for about 3 days before we were pretty much settled in.......

One thing we haven't had a problem finding around here is really fresh seafood...
I'm sure I don't have to tell you who is responsible for cleaning and cooking these meals!Once that was done, it was recommended that we go and spend the afternoon on Haputo Beach. Haputo Beach is located on the Northwest part of the island at a small Naval Communications Station.
I believe the exact words were "you'll take a trail down to the beach but the walk back up can be a little tough"........................

My first panic attack started when we got to the gate and the guard said we had to stop in at the Visitors Center and sign a waiver.Did he say A WAIVER?!?!?!?!?!?!
The waiver covered the basics such as "no lifeguard on duty, swim at your own risk" blah blah blah.
Then the conversation turned to: "follow the trail, have to come back and sign out before 6pm, if it starts to rain you have to leave immediately because it will become very difficult to climb back up the trail."
At which point, I may have blacked out a little bit!!!
Ok, well here we go..............
At first it was pretty funny................
then, not so much.............
yes, you are looking at a TRAIL......................
Right here is where I should have been able to insert a picture of what I can only assume was a Monitor Lizard that was about 4 feet long nose to tail.Unfortunately, I could not catch up to the hubby fast enough.
By the time I did catch up, I couldn't grab the camera. It may have had something to do with the sweaty hands and the fact that I couldn't see through the lens which may have been related to the tears but who could say for sure.
Trust me though when I say, "it was a very large lizard and pretty cool".
This lovely picture was taken about half way down.............HALF WAY!!!!
This one is simply proof that there is in fact a beach down there somewhere, so technically we're not lost yet!
Then you basically fall out of the jungle and "ta daa"...............

WOW!!!!! It sure is BEAUTIFUL.........................

I was certain that at some point during our time here, we would come across the cast members of "Lost".I know they tell you that they film in Hawaii, but I watch that show and I've walked through this jungle -- now I'm just not sure.

Too bad we forgot our new snorkel gear, but the water was so clear we did ok without it......
COME ON, HOW COOL IS THAT?!?!?!?!?!
wait a second, is that rain coming out of that cloud????????
Don't worry, we didn't get any rain. We had a lovely day!!
Then before we knew it, it was time to go.........................back in there........

........to get up there..........

............yes, ALL THE WAY UP THERE!!!!!
Well we both made it out alive -- the hubby came back twice to make sure
I wasn't dead........show off.
Then after about 30 minutes I finally agreed that we would go back again........someday.
We did do some snorkeling at Tarague Beach last weekend which was great.
I bought an underwater camera and will take some pics next time we're there and pass them along.
Otherwise, everything is great here.
We hope everyone is healthy and happy. We miss you all.
The only other thing we have to share are some of the pics that we've taken of the rainbows we see all the time.
There's hardly ever a day that you don't get to see one & we've found that you never get tired of them.........

You can't help but be happy when you see the sun come up..........

Of course, the sunsets are never a disappointment either.........
