Well it's rainy season here in Guam.....

and it's getting really, really old!!!! Boy did they have us fooled because it sure wasn't like this last season. Don't get me wrong, we still have days of beautiful weather......

and then it's gone............

and just like that, it'll be over......

Luckily we had a few "indoor" events to take our minds off missing out on the beach. There was the annual Military Ball, which is always a pretty good time.

Of course, how could you not have a good time hanging out with a room full of handsome guys like this....

We were due to have an Air Show here on September 30th however, when you try to plan an event like that during typhoon season, you never know what you'll get. Well what we did get was an opportunity to test run the typhoon shutters on the house.............twice.

Let's see, first it was Tropical Depression 18 and then Tropical Storm Melor was not far behind. THANKFULLY we were left in peace by both of them. I capitalize thankfully because I want to be perfectly clear that we know how fortunate we have been so far. I hope to be so fortunate the rest of our time here.
Then on Monday, October 5th, we found out that we will get to have an air show after all -- in 48 hours. Yes the air show was to take place on Wednesday. So later that afternoon as I was getting dinner ready, what do my ears hear? Probably one of few sounds that actually bring joy to my heart........THE THUNDERBIRDS ARRIVED!!!!!

and all I had to do to take these pictures was step outside my back door.....

(I think this one is my favorite)......do you see the plane?

Of course, the next question is if the weather will agree. I made sure to go out on Tuesday and watch them practice.........just in case......

So Wednesday arrived and things looked a bit "iffy" at first

So I just walked around taking photos of what was on the ground in case we didn't get to see anything in the air.
KC-135 Refueler
C17 Transport
F22 Stealth Fighter
Boy oh boy, nothing beats a pair of sensible shoes to walk around an air show.....
(people crack me up!!!!)
SH60 - Navy Search and Rescue Helicopter
B52 Bomber
F22 Stealth Fighter
F16 Thunderbird
C17 Transport
F22 Stealth Fighter
F15 Strike Eagle
The "Legendary" Memphis Belle
In case you needed medical attention.............

There was even "mobile" medical attention.......

In case you decided you wanted to buy a vehicle....

Or an inexpensive "slightly" used lost child.......

They pretty much had it all!!!
It finally cleared up so the "air" part of the air show could begin....

Here's a quick lesson in case you need to know how to repel out of a helicopter...

Now you'd better be paying attention -- you never know if this will come in handy.....

Please be kind and remember to clean up your mess when you leave......

After a short demonstration on the C17 capabilities.......

The Thunderbird exhibition began........

The following are short video clips of the Thunderbird Show........
So gladly it ended up being a fine day. Even with all the hassle and the on-again off-again weather, it was worth the wait.....
So that's about it here. Halloween is right around the corner.........

So while Jack and Frenzy watch for Halloween ghosts and goblins.......

and Dio waits for dinner..........
"c'mon I know it's got to be 5 o'clock for crying out loud!"
we'll be thinking of you, hoping everyone is well and before you know it, you'll be getting pictures from this year's annual Rota Christmas Walk (if you're not sure what I'm referring to, feel free to look at our previous holiday blog).
Love and miss you,
The Paprock's
